As The Flight for the Human Spirit draws closer to its April take-off date, we find the excitement is mounting, and the attention is increasing.

It is an honor to be invited by Remos to not only attend the AOPA Summit meetings in Tampa, FL next week, but to place Hope One on exhibit.  According to AOPA, "The Summit will feature new experiences, events, education, and opportunities to touch, test, and interact with the people and technology that's relevant to the way you fly or to help you realize your dream of learning to fly."

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association remains at the heart of general aviation, representing a record 414,000 members-more than any other aviation organization in the world. They continue to work at the international, federal, state, and local levels to advance general aviation's cause, and continue to help pilots stay safe and get the most out of their flying.   We have several meetings scheduled with AOPA members and leadership primarily focused on how AOPA can help to promote The Flight for the Human Spirit.  I have to say that I am very excited about these upcoming meetings as well as introducing the flight to more fans.

We depart Denton, TX on Sunday morning with plans to stop at Tallahassee, FL for the night and then continue onward to land in Tampa on Monday morning.  This will be my first true cross country trip in Hope One.  Michele and I will be meeting up with Luke Stouffer of Remos at an airport in east Texas where we will then fly our two planes onward.  Luke is very experienced at cross country flying, and will help to teach me the skills necessary for this type of flying.  I am really looking forward to learning from his expertise.

This will be Michele's first long distance flight in a General Aviation aircraft, so we are both excited to find out what her thoughts are of the experience.  We plan to record the next podcast while enroute to Tampa, so it will definitely be a podcast that you won't want to miss!  To listen to my podcasts, go to http://combs.podomatic.com/ Be sure to subscribe so that you don't miss any of the action and excitement as we draw closer to the big take-off.

Also this will be our first test with Mission Control for the flight.  On Sunday morning, I'll get the "go/no-go" signal from them which will mark the beginning of this journey.  Our primary tests will be to focus on route planning and execution, timing, and communication.  Soon we will be integrating more technology into the cockpit of the aircraft, so this is a great opportunity to work on the basics.

If you are attending the AOPA Summit meetings, please stop by the Remos display area at Peter O'Knight Airport and say "Hi."  I love to talk aviation, and am always excited to meet fans of the flight.

I wish you well, and I'll keep you posted from points beyond.
